GAME FAQ

I've never played poker on-line before. Where do I begin?

We have a comprehensive educational section to help you get started. You can also contact us and ask for more information. Our hosts are always happy to help explain our poker room and the rules of poker.

Can I test drive your poker room?

Absolutely. There is no charge for downloading our software and we offer play money tables where you can play for free! Go ahead and download our software and play for free!

Where do I begin?

All you need to do is download the software, register, and you are ready to play.

Okay, I've registered. How do I pick a table?

Our lobby has several views. To begin playing poker, click on the tab in the lobby labeled "Cash Tables". In that view, you'll see the games we offer, a list of tables for each game along with the characteristics of each table. To join a table, simply double click on the name of the one that you want to join. To take a seat at that table find an available seat and click on it. If there are no available seats, you can put your name on the waiting list.

How does the waiting list work?

If the table you want to play is full, you can subscribe to the Waiting List for that table. Or you can subscribe to a Waiting List for all tables that have the same details as the selected table.

When you choose to join the Waiting List for all tables matching the selected table, you can do the following:

Enter the minimum number of Players required at the table before you are notified of an available seat. Select the table details (game type, stakes, bet limit type) you want to match.

How do I get more play chips while at a table?

If you need more play chips while seated at a table, click the chip button, a window will open showing your available chips. You may bring up to that number of chips to the table. The chips will only be delivered once the hand in progress has ended.

How do I get more play chips into my account?

Your play chips are refilled every day at 10:00am GMT. If you run out of play chips before that time, you will not be able to play at the play tables until they are automatically refilled by the system.

Can I play at more than one table?

Yes, we allow you to play at up to five tables at a time.

Are there restrictions on how many chips I need to sit down?

We require that you sit down with ten times the higher stakes amount. For example, to sit at a 10/20 table, you must sit with at least 200 chips. For pot limit and no limit tables, and for tournaments there are different buy-in rules.

Why can't I join a hand when I would be the small blind?

Basically, it's one of two reasons. One, you've not paid the big blind and you're in either the small blind seat or the dealer seat. Second, you're a returning player who played some hands and posted blinds, but then sat out and missed blinds.

What are the rules for picking me up for a table while I'm sitting out?

Currently you'll be moved from a table if you sit out of ten consecutive rounds.

How do blinds work head's up (1 on 1)?

For head's up games, we handle the blinds in the same way casinos do. The player on the dealer button posts the small blind, while the other player posts the big blind.

How are split pots handled?

If two or more players have the same winning hand, they split the pot equally.

What happens if I do not have enough money to call a bet?

When you don't have the money to call a bet, your remaining chips are placed in the pot and you're said to be 'all-in'. You can win all the money in the pot up to that point, but remaining players may continue betting, in which case a side-pot will be created. The all-in player cannot win money from this side pot.

Why do I sometimes not have an option to raise?

Each betting round is capped at four bets, or a bet and three raises. If there have been three raises before the betting gets to you, betting is said to have been capped. This is standard practice in casinos and poker rooms worldwide.

Another situation is called the "Under-raise". This occurs when a player raises a prior bet but has to go all-in to do so. If the player under-raising - going all-in to raise - has less than half of the expected raise for that betting round, the betting round is locked. The term locked here means that any player who has already acted in the round (checked, called, or raised) may no longer raise. They may only call or fold. However, players who have yet to act (betting has not reached them yet) may raise the expected raise for that betting round after calling. If the under-raise is half or more than the expected raise, the lock rule does not apply.

How do you ensure fair play?

Collusion can be a problem in both real world and virtual poker rooms, and involves two or more players working together to gain an unfair advantage. Collusion, simply stated, is cheating and will not be tolerated and violators will be banished from our pokerroom. The good news is that our software is designed to detect collusive behavior by monitoring playing patterns, who plays together, types of hands and how they're bet. We can't tell you of all the techniques used, but we're confident that our system is unmatched in its sophistication and unlike human monitoring, infallible.

How do you shuffle cards to ensure fairness?

We use an industry standard random number generator that produces highly randomized numbers. These random numbers are converted to numbers between 1 and 52, representing the cards in a deck. Each game played draws a new deck of cards. More technical information on our random number generator can be found here.

What is dumping?

Dumping is an effort by two or more players to shift chips across accounts and is usually associated with illegal behavior. Our software monitors for dumping and we will fully cooperate with the proper authorities in the event that illegal behavior is detected.

What happens to players caught cheating?

We don't tolerate cheating. Any player caught cheating will be suspended or barred from the poker room. Barings and suspensions are at the complete and total discretion of Cardroom management.

Why do you ask me if I'm sure I want to fold when I could check?

We want to make sure that you're aware that you can stay in the hand for free. If you're sure that you don't want this reminder you can disable it from the Options menu in the lobby.

What do I do if the table I want to play at is full?

Simply join the waiting list, and when a seat becomes available we will call you to your seat.

Am I playing against real people or a computer?

All the players that you see at are real people. We do not use computer players or "bots" on our site.

TECHNICAL FAQ

I want to change my screen name. Why can't I?

We see as a community where players meet and get to know each other; your alias acts as your virtual face in the poker room that allows you to recognize and be recognized by other players. To keep this spirit of community, while ensuring a fair playing environment, we ask that you keep your alias.

How do I see table chat?

The table chat is available on the side panel, and this panel is displayed as a default. If you close it, either deliberately or accidentally, you can reopen it by clicking the Game Information Options drop down list and select the Full Detail or Chat only option.

How do I chat with other players?

You can chat with players at any table, simply place your cursor in the Chat box and type your text. Your chat text will be displayed in the History box.

How does the "Profile" work?

You have the option of providing any or all of the profile items. Remember, your profile is open to everyone so please don't use offensive language. To set up your profile, click on the MY ACCOUNT button in the lobby and then click on ‘change my player profile’ and follow the simple steps.

What kind of computer can I use to play poker?

We currently support all standard versions of Microsoft Windows (Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP and Vista). We have also tested the software on older, slower machines and are pleased to report no problems.

What is the minimum screen resolution setting that I can use?

You will need a system that supports 800x600 graphics settings, although for a more enjoyable experience we recommend a screen setting of 1024x768 or higher.

What color settings can be supported?

Because we use high resolution graphics, you'll need your computer to be set to "High Color (16 bit)" or higher. Please note, we cannot support the 256 color setting.

How much available disk space do I need?

You'll need 12Mb of space on your hard drive for the client download and installation.

What happens if I lose my connection?

Our system monitors the connectivity of all players seated at our games. If you lose your connection, whether due to a problem with the Internet, your ISP or your PC, our software will quickly try to reconnect you, and the game will wait a short while for that reconnection. If you have not managed to reconnect during that period, the system will apply the appropriate default action at that time. This may involve treating you as all-in for a particular hand, folding you or checking you; please note, at no time will the system bet "money" on your behalf!
How do these all-in events work?
When a player has lost connectivity during a hand that player is treated as being all-in. No, we don't suddenly move your entire stack into the middle, but the pot that you're involved in will be treated as a side pot so that you don't lose out. No additional money will be added to this side pot, and if other players continue betting then they will contest the main pot between them.

To ensure that players don't abuse this functionality to avoid making a difficult call, we limit the number of all-in events like this to two per day, including remaining in games where your chip balance at the table has reached zero. If you experience serious connectivity issues, you can contact a manager who can follow well established guidelines to see whether a particular player should be granted additional all-ins. These guidelines include the use of connectivity reports and the player's past history.

    Can I go all-in intentionally?
All-in protection is designed to help and protect players experiencing connection difficulties, and it's not acceptable to misuse this feature just because you wish to avoid calling a bet. We can track players who experience technical difficulties, and anyone found trying to fake disconnections will be barred from the poker room.

What happens if the server crashes?

If the server crashes and prevents you from completing the game you are playing, the balance in your account will return to what it was at the start of the hand.

When playing on a tournament, if the tournament is cancelled & no players eliminated, all players get their buy-in + fee refunded.

If the tournament is cancelled and some players get eliminated and there are not yet at prize paying positions, all remaining players get their buy-in + fee refunded. Buy-in of all players eliminated at that point have their buy-in equally divided amongst players who weren't eliminated at point of cancellation. E.g. Tournament costs $1 to enter & starts with 150 players, (it pays 15 places). 50 players eliminated from tournament & it gets cancelled. All eliminated players get no money back, remaining players get their buy ($1) + an $0.50 share of the $50 paid as buy in by the eliminated players.

If the tournament gets cancelled when all remaining players 'in the money', then the tournament payout will be made as per chip position at the point of cancellation.

I.e. Chip leader paid 1st place, runner-up in chips paid 2nd place, etc.

Do you give out any of the information you collect about me?

No. We won't give your data to any third parties.

Why do I sometimes experience a slow connection?

Our poker servers are located throughout the world with sufficient bandwidth for a very large number of users. However, some ISP connections may require many hops (network jumps) or may use a congested peering exchange. We regret that we have no control over these issues.
