Just after graduating from the University of Minnesota Amit Makhija dove straight into his poker career. In his first year on the tour he had 12 cashes, including 5 final tables. In 2008 Amit took 5th at the WSOP $10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em Championship and then went on to take 2nd at the WPT Legends of Poker. His first big win came in late 2008 but was not live; it was online, he took down the first place prize $550,000. When Amit isn't at the tables he spends his time blogging, working out and socializing with his other poker playing roommates.
AMAK316 has quietly established himself as a force in online MTTs. Specializing in late-night high stakes Heads Up Sit & Go's. Amit Makhija is a low-volume tournament player who made online poker headlines in November 2008.
Amit Makhija final tabled the 2008 World Series of Poker $10,000 Pot Limit Holdem (Event #1) for nearly $200,000. In August of that same year, he placed 2nd in the WPT Legends of Poker Main Event for $563,320.
But it is not over, 2009 is a great year for Amit Makhija, he had four 2009 World Series of Poker cashes and his name was written in the books of history next to Doyle Brunson.
